The use of the human skull in images of design implies a spirit of danger and action.
This spirit of facing death is an attitude common to many beliefs and thus all sorts of people, from motorcycle manufaturers to heavy metal music bands to army oufits to skateboard maufaturers to clothing manufacturers, all have used the skull to imply the attitude of the "deadly un-death" in the face of danger.
